A recent edition to our kitchen is a Mr. Coffee model ISTX85. This thing has a double walled thermos and no hot plate. When the brewing is done, the heavy electricity use is done too. No more burned coffee. I never have to remember to turn off the coffee maker again, now that's lazy.
