Our last morning of the guided tour and on Inis Mor we had enough time for a quick hike to the church
of St. Benan, (Teampall Bheanain). The church is said to be the smallest in the world at about 11x7 feet.
These stone markers are used to mark depth for boats returning to the harbor.
The remains of an old round tower on our way to the church.
The church sits at a high point on this end of the island.
The church
Christy and Natasha next to the church.
Christy convinced me to be in one of the pictures.
Some stone work in the church. A lot of work was done to make the stones smooth,
and a mortar made from local island materials was used.
The burren like landscape around the church, with the atlantic in the background.
We now bid farewell to Claudia, caught the ferry back to the mainland and checked in to
our bed and breakfast, Dalys House. The tour was over and we said our goodbyes to Brian and
Natash in Doolin.
The weather was clear so we headed up to the Cliffs of Moher, this is the restored Doonagore Castle
overlooking the town of Doolin on the road up to the cliffs. An American couple restored
and now lives in the tower house.
The Cliffs of Moher, with Hags Head in the far distance.
More of the Cliffs.
O'Briens observation tower at the top of the cliffs.
Another view of the Cliffs, the white specs at the top are people.
Another one with folks on top for perspective.
A view of the Aran Islands from the observation tower.
O'Briens tower and a rock formation.
A last view of the cliffs and Hags Head.
The view from our bedroom window at the Daly's House B&B. The remains of Doonmacfelim.
That night we walked to O Conners Pub for another music session, more pints of Murphys, and the end of day 5.
